Newton's Nook Cuppa Cactus Card

Using Scrapping for Less Coffee and Friends pattern papers, I made this perfect Newton's Nook Cuppa Cactus Card. The background was stamped with the cacti with Versamark and heat embossed with white ep. I then used Distress Oxide in Straw and Squeezed Lemonade with blender brushes. I stamped and masked the 2 cactus cups so as to showcase their flowers with the cup handles sticking out some. I colored with Copic Markers in matching colors and trimmed the papers and glued down. Hope you enjoyed all the fun with these adorable Newton's Nook images! They are a Super Sponsor of the Coffee Lover's Blog hop and it is so generous of them to sponsor it each time I thought it would be nice to use this image for both challenges!

More Newton's Nook Falling into Autumn Cards

I know this sound rather morbid, but when I am facing hurricanes I sit and stamp and fussy cut while listening to the Weather Chanel. So my Newton's Nook stamp set Falling into Autumn stamps were already on my MISTI, and my Distress Oxides on my table, so I went into my "hurricane mode". Playing with how to blend the Oxides to make different fall colors was fun! I printed off the Words of Art Scripture verse for the August 28th challenge, and used the same CAS design I'd already used. Here they are:

Here's some fun Hurricane humor. Now you need to know that I am a Floridian and have gone through many hurricanes. Many of my family and myself have lost material goods from them but by the grace of God, have never been physically harmed nor died. After Hurricane Dorian came through, I realize that this is not as funny due to the huge mass of destruction to the Bahamas! We are sending our support to them in this aftermath and encourage you to as well. These funny GIFs and scripture are what I thought my friends here in Central Florida needed to focus on while awaiting the hurricane instead of fear and worry. That is the only reason why I posted them. To my followers as humor and not thoughtlessly to anyone that has been harmed from them. God bless and let us pray for the Bahamas' recovery and their government to restructure in Dorian's wake of disaster. :

We are all in prayer for all going through this horrible hurricane's wrath! Be safe so evacuate when officials say so. We have a long week ahead!

Virginia's Show and Share One of the newest things I tried this month was to use the Distress Oxides to make the fall colors with the old stamp set from Newton's Nook instead of Distress inks. It was challenging but I learned a little bit more about these fabulous inks!

Newton's Nook Cuppa Cactus Card

I just love the perfect cup of coffee from the adorable Newton's Cuppa Cactus which I stamped with Memento Tuxedo black using my MISTI tool. I wanted this to have more dimension so I used Strathmore Artist Papers in their Illustration Board to do just that. It has a thick base but you must be careful coloring with Copic Markers which can be absorbed and colors run more easily. May Arts twine in natural color was then wrapped three times around the navy cardstock base, and tied with a double bow and then Nuvo Crystal Drops in English Mustard added for that extra texture as well.
Copic  .Markers included: YG63, YG67, YG21, R39, R29, Y13, Y17, B21, B28, B18.

Coffee Lover's Bloghop

To start off with my first for this Spring + Summer Coffee Lover's Bloghop, I chose Newton's Cuppa Cactus which I stamped with Memento Tuxedo black using my MISTI tool. I used Strathmore plain cardstock ATC paper. I then colored using my Copic Markers: YG63, YG67, YG21, RV29, RV14, RV13, E50, E53, W1, W3 which all matched the Basic Grey pattern papers I had chosen. This collection is called South Pacific and the flower paper is Tahiti. Then Nuvo Crystal Drops in black were added to have a finished look.
The front panel was then glued down using the BG papers onto a folded 4.5" x 5.25" card made of a bright green cardstock.
I fussy cut the flower and leaf and added them under my ATC piece for some interest.

Don't forget that today the Spring + Summer Coffee Lover's Bloghop starts! My card is #86 if you are looking for it!
