 Loved playing with this month's sketch but it has been reworked over so many times!! I hope you love it as much as I do!! Many papers, stickers, and ephemera from: Crate Paper, Echo Park Let's Party and We R Memory Keepers. The stars were from Webster's pages from over a decade ago! So glad it is all being used and came out so nice.

Lasting Memories "Shapes" with Hexagons Challenge #596

 

Well, this is my last week guest designing for Lasting Memories Challenge blog for April. Our theme for this month has been "Shapes" and has focused on 4 different shapes each week, Triangles, Circles, and Hearts this week is Hexagons. 

This week's Lasting Memories Challenge #596 using Hexagons means you can build "blocks" of them because they fit together like building blocks. This shape also makes us think about bees because of that being the shape of their honeycombs. I went with both of these ideas. 

With my layout, I chose old, old Basic Grey papers from the Urban Prairie collection called Monarch and Wild Flowers. Using an unknown hexagon die in my stash, I cut the Wild Flowers papers out making sure to include the 7 bumble bees, one in each shape and then built my grouping up both sides of the pages. The center paper was so pretty, I just let it be the nice backdrop of the story with the cute bumble bee at the top left. There are 10 bees in total on my double pager!! 

P.S. I have been cleaning my scraproom after a long time of crafting, going to retreats and not putting things away as they should have been. This cute little bee and note were found in a pile of photos. It has been overlooked and not appreciated. Because I began to clean out pieces of scraps, organizing my photos, memorabilia and papers, I was able to find it and showcase it in this fun layout which was my reward to myself by sitting down and making it. So this layout is really special because it has been hidden under piles of photos since 2004!

Lasting Memories "Shapes" with Hearts Challenge #595

Well, this week as a guest designer for Lasting Memories Challenge blog for April. Our theme for this month has been "Shapes" and have been focusing on different shapes each week, Triangles, Circles, and this week is Hearts. 

This is one of the photos that I loved of my daughter and her Dad spending a weekend together at a college Basketball game while she was away at college herself. So I decided to honor that almost pictureless weekend with the one pic that was taken. Yay!! 

I chose to use a Cricut cut border and handmade hearts on top. It showcases the special photo and adds some dimension. Hearts are so versatile and don't always mean Amore' but can also mean Fatherly love. 

Lasting Memories "Shapes" with Circles Challenge #594

  Hi, I am Beverly Jordan and am Guest designing for Lasting Memories Scrapbooking Blog for April in which we are doing shape layout challenges. This week's challenge is circles and this shape is one I gravitate to quite often. Double layout spreads push me to think of the "odd number" rule and use the 3 circles extended across both pages. The photos are of a collection of our vacation from the Florida Keys and I felt matched these beautiful and bright papers. I hope it inspires you as well, and that you join the Lasting Memories blog challenges this week and month of "shapes"!  
 

The pattern papers I used are Echo Park "Just Be You" which have bright springtime colors and positive message quotes. Other products include: The gold title by American Crafts Thickers sticker. The other stickers are from the sticker sheet that came with the papers collection. Rochelle Spears' sketch fit with the photos and theme/colors of the papers perfectly. The circles are 5 inches wide and made with the old Creative Memories circle cutters. The fun green background is Bazzill/textured papers from Hobby Lobby. Prima Marketing bling jewels for each of the flowers, bicycle clip and a Teresa Collins wood chip of "Our Memories" are all from my stash.

Lasting Memories "Shapes" with Triangles Challenge #593

 Hi, I am the guest designer for Lasting Memories Challenge blog for April. Our theme for this month is "Shapes" and we will be focusing on a particular shape each week. This week the challenge is "Triangles". Using this as my idea for my layout, a stash of papers that I have been hoarding/saving (oops) came to mind called October Afternoon Cakewalk with it's triangle background paper and the triangular banners which is through out the collection!

Here is my layout using October Afternoon Cakewalk papers and embellishments. I cut the pattern paper called 'Sugar Stix' apart along the "stitched" lines. After separating it, I arranged the two halves on 2 pieces of white cardstock and adhered each at the bottom edges. I added the large mats with Cakewalk 'Paper Straws' pattern paper for the photos that I had chosen. For the right page, I used "Hula Hoop' double sided paper (both sides) for the large photo. Corrugated rust red was used for mats, as well. Added clusters of labels and banners with more triangles and the Waffleflower Celebrate die cut in a rust red. The Number die cut is from Creek Bank Creations Outline Alphabet.

As you can see, there are many ways to use Triangles on your layouts! I cheated and chose a patterned paper with the triangles on it cleverly coming to a point in the middle and fussy cut them out to make the photos the center of the triangles. Banners with triangles are an easy one as well. And of course banners on toothpicks to add flair!! Hope you will play along with us at Lasting Memories Challenge Blog #593 for Triangles.
